to the land of the windmills (1/26/7)

I am an LA boy. Born and raised. I grew up in one season, reading about the other three in Life Magazine as if they were part of a fairy tale. I've long come to accept that if I want beach, I go west - twelve months of the year to Zuma or Santa Monica or Malibu. If I want snow, I go east - between November and March - to Big Bear or Arrowhead and if I happen, for any reason, to want anything else, I go to Disneyland. My team, no matter what sport we happen to be discussing, is and forever will be THE DODGERS (yea! boohoo) and politically my job is to somehow rationalize why the most conservative county in the United States, Orange, happens also to be the home of the most liberal city in that same state, Laguna Beach. We have gangs and smog and a million 7-11s and I, like Mr. Randy Neuman, love LA!!! And yet, in spite of that, the day after tomorrow I am leaving the city I was born and raised in perhaps for good and why? To be with HER, that's why!!! Duh!!! And as long as the courts order her to remain in either Alameda or Contra Costa Counties that's where I too shall be. It's a big move, change is always a bit scary, and even though I know to some it must seem ridiculous, I have known from the beginning that by her side is where I'm supposed to be. And in less than a day this year and a half of long distance romancing will end and I can finally begin the rest of my life everyday with Katie Sydenham (working title), soon to be my wife, Katie Grinn - making me the luckiest guy in Northern California (if not the world)!

oooooh, give me room ... feel a song comin' on!

"Hear me, heathens and wizards
And serpents of sin!
All your dastardly doings are past,
For a holy endeavor is now to begin
And virtue shall triumph at last!

"I am I, Katie's Husband,
Her fan and protector,
My destiny calls and I go,
And the wild winds of fortune
Will carry us onward,
Oh whither so ever they blow!

"Whither so ever they blow,
Onward to glory we go!"
